Weekly Update: April 28th-May 2nd

**This week I have been and will continue to serve jury duty.  Hopefully, I will be finished up with this service tomorrow. :)

Reading:

This week we have begun researching specific animals that will be seen during our trip to the zoo.  This research project will be completed at school.  We look forward to sharing these with you at our student-led conferences on May 15th!!

Math:  

As we are nearing the end of the school year, we will begin reviewing the skills and objectives learned.  Your child will take a state mandated math assessment before the end of month.

Science: 

This nine weeks we are studying sound.  Talk to your child about what they have learned so far.
Key Words: pitch, vibrations, volume, sound waves, ear drum.

Upcoming Dates:


April 28-April 30th (hopefully)- Mrs. Sigmon will be at jury duty.

May 2nd: Mrs. Sigmon will be at a Digital Learning Academy session.

May 12th: Asheboro Zoo trip (return by 5:00 pm)

May 14th: Progress Reports go home.

May 15th: Science Center Festival (K-2)

May 15th: Student-Led Conferences 4:00 pm-6:00 pm
-This is a drop in conference.
-Please plan to spend at least 15-20 min at the conference.
-Your child will lead this conference.
-This is not the time to have a parent/teacher conference.  We can schedule a parent/teacher conference if you feel the need for a later date.

May 20th: Kinder-1st Field Day

May 21st: 2nd-3rd Field Day

May 22nd: 4th-5th Field Day

Opinion Writing - Egg Dying Kits

Today we used three different ways to dye eggs.  Each student rated each kit and used that information to write an opinion piece about the best kit.

Weekly Update: April 14-18

I NEED YOUR HELP:

Friday, April 18th we will be dying Easter Eggs.  We will be looking at three different ways to dye eggs and then they will be creating an opinion writing piece about which way is the best way to dye eggs (in their opinion)

We need:
5 dozen hard-boiled eggs
paper towels
Easter candy

If you would be willing to donate some of these items, please fill out the Google Doc.

Make-Up Day:

Friday, April 18th is a snow make-up day.

Zoo Trip:

The cost for students to attend the Asheboro Zoo Trip (May 12th) is $11.00.  Please send this in as soon as possible if you have not already done so.
