Accelerated Reader

Please make sure you write down the title of the book, reading level, and date in the AR folder each night for the book your child is reading. 

In order for your child to become a better reader he/she needs to continuously read.  My hope is that your child will find reading enjoyable and fun this year.  I will provide time for independent reading each day.  Your child will be expected to check out books from the media center or our classroom library  on his/her reading level to ensure he/she can read the book independently.  I use this time to monitor what your child is reading, fluency, and for conferencing.  I will continue to move your child's reading level up as he/she performs high on AR tests.  Your child will have an AR folder with his/her reading level as well as the books he/she has read.  I will conference with your child in order to come up with the number of points your child will need to earn each nine weeks.
