Weekly Update: January 20-23

Reading:

Unfortunately, we have not finished testing.  We will continue to test this week.

This week we will focus on Social Studies standards during our reading block.  We will discuss different communities such as urban, suburban, and rural.  We will discuss how the environment impacts where we live.

Math:

This week we will be learning about picture and bar graphs.  We will read and create graphs and we will also answer and create questions about graphs.  Our math quests will be focused around graphing.

Remind:

It would be awesome if I could get all families signed up for Remind.  I would love to use this app as a way to send last minute reminders!  Right now we only have 6 families signed up.  Please follow the directions below to get signed up!

Don't worry,  it doesn't give me your cell phone number.  It only lets me know the names of those who sign up to receive messages.  These are one way messages.  I can send out a message, but I can't receive messages.  Please email me if you have any questions about Remind messages that are sent out.

Weekly Update: January 5-9

I hope everyone had an amazing break with family and a Happy New Year!  I've enjoyed my slow, quiet life with my family, but I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine and spending my days with your kiddos!  :)

Reading:

This week we will continue guided reading groups, however, our THRIVE time (intervention and enrichment) will be cancelled so we can focus on testing.  We will be completing Dibels (assessment of early literacy skills) and 3D Testing (used to identify an overall reading level) over the next few weeks.  I will inform you of your child's new reading level as soon as testing is complete.  I can't wait to share their growth with you! :)

Everyone in the class was set to meet their AR goal before the winter break.  Just a reminder to have your child read each night.

We will finish up our Unit 5 review and assessment this week.  We are also reviewing all skills learned so far this year in order to prepare for the mid-year assessment.  This assessment will also be given over the next few weeks.
