Weekly Update: February 23-27

Hopefully, we will get through a full week of school this week!  I hope you all enjoyed the snowy/icy weather with your family! :)

Reading:

This week we will continue guided reading groups.  During our group time, we are really focusing on written comprehension.

Math:

This week we are finishing up our unit on time.  We have been studying how to tell time to the hour and half hour.  

Science:

This week we plan to start our science unit on force and motion.  Next week we will start building our roller coasters! :)  

Upcoming Events:

February 26th:  
-Box Top Collection 
     -It was moved to this Thursday because of school cancellations and weather delays.  I still have those that were already turned in last week.

February 26-27th:  
-I have a training these two days (as of now).  There is still a chance they may be cancelled now that one of those days is no longer a workday.

February 27th:  REGULAR SCHOOL DAY- This is one of our make-up days.

Weekly Update: February 16-20

Brrr. . . it looks like it's going to be a cold and maybe even snowy week!  I hope everyone is bundled up and staying warm!

If you haven't already, please fill out the following form so I can assure everyone gets home safely in the event we have an early dismissal.  I know things change throughout the course of the year, and I just want to make sure I have the most up-to-date information. :)






We had so much fun with candy heart math and sharing Valentine cards with each other.  Check out all the amazing boxes that were brought in for our party!!!  Thank you so much for helping out with this project!  They turned out great! :)




















Upcoming Events:


February 19th:  Box Top Collection Day! 

February 20th and February 26th:  I will be attending trainings.  Mrs. Sandel will be our substitute those two days.

February 27th:  No School - Teacher Workday

The 100th Day of School!!!!

Today was the 100th Day of School and we had a blast!

Several students dressed up like they were 100 years old!  I was trying to look like a grouchy granny!  Haha! :)

We also had lots of fun rolling dice 100 times and counting out our 100 day snack!

At the end of the day we received a note from Zero the Hero!!!


We got together as a grade level and put down 100 feet!!!  Once we counted out 100 feet we reached our treat of 100th Day certificates, bookmarks and a 100th Day craft!  We finished the day created pictures out of the numbers in 100 . . . I forgot to take pics- Sorry!!!

Thank you for sending in the items for our 100th Day Snack!!!  Our parents rock!!!!




Weekly Update: February 9-13

Today is the 100th Day of School!!!! :)

We are celebrating by dressing up like we are 100 years old!

Reading:

This week we will continue guided reading groups.  Now that we have taught all the skills in reading, we will review these skills during this guided time.

Math:

Last week, we finished the week with an assessment.  This week we will move on to working on fractions.  According to Common Core standards, our students need to be familiar with a whole, halves, and fourths.

Upcoming Events:

February 9th:  100th Day of School!!!

February 13th:  Valentine's Day Party- Our party will begin around 2:30.  Don't forget to send in your child's Valentine's Day box!!

Weekly Update: February 2-6

Reading:

This week we will continue guided reading groups.  Some groups have changed based on new guided reading levels and the needs of each student.  This nine weeks we need to continue working on reader's response journals (RRJ's).  I will continue modeling these responses as a guide.  

Math:

This week we will finish our unit on shapes and graphs.  We will take our assessment on Friday.  

Homework:

Here is a reminder of our weekly homework:

Monday:  
     1. Letterland- Day 1 and RRJ
     2. Math (one day each night)
     3. Read

Tuesday:
     1. Letterland- Day 2  *Please make sure your child is using the words in the Tricky Words box and List A box for Look-Say-Cover-Write
     2. Math
     3. Read

Wednesday:
     1. RRJ - We do not have Letterland homework on Wednesday nights.
     2. Math
     3. Read

Thursday:
     1. Letterland- Day 4
          -Please make sure your child practices writing the new sentences.
     2. Math
     3. Read

Friday:
     Letterland Spelling Test
